Abstract
Prestasi atlet salah satunya dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal yang berupa kemampuan fisik dari atlet. Fisiologis pernafasan yang optimal mendukung kemampuan fisik dari atlet yang diharapkan dapat menunjang prestasi dari atlet. Deep Breathing Exercise merupakan salah satu teknik breathing yang bertujuan untuk pengembangan sangkar thorax. Pengembangan sangkar thorax yang baik memungkinkan proses fisiologis pernafasan dapat berjalan dengan optimal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas Deep Breathing Exercise terhadap ekspansi sangkar thorax. Metode penelitian menggunakan quasi eksperiment pada atlet di FC Bintang Utama Semarang dengan jumlah responden sejumlah 30 peserta. Hasil evaluasi sangkar thorax diukur secara manual dengan menggunakan mid line. Analisa hasil statistik didapatkan p > 0,05 yang berarti dapat disimpulkan tidak ada peningkatan ekspansi sangkar thorax pada responden.
