Effectiveness of Adding Sustained Natural Apophyseal Glides on Pain and Range of Motion Improvement in Individuals with Non-Specific Neck Pain

Abstract

Nyeri leher non-spesifik (NSNP) adalah jenis nyeri leher yang dapat atau tidak menjalar tanpa disertai dengan penyakit sistemik atau patologi lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek penambahan sustained natural apophyseal glides (SNAGs) pada kombinasi intervensi ultrasound therapy (UST) dan muscle energy technique (MET) dalam menurunkan nyeri dan meningkatkan lingkup gerak sendi pada nyeri leher non-spesifik. Pre-eksperimental merupakan metode penelitian ini. Sebanyak (n=24) subjek penelitian dibagi ke dalam dua kelompok, yaitu: kelompok kontrol (n=12) yang mendapatkan intervensi UST dan MET, sementara pada kelompok intervensi (n=12) diberikan UST, MET, dan SNAGs. Sebanyak 12 sesi (3 kali per minggu selama 4 minggu) intervensi diberikan. Alat ukut yang menjadi evaluasi yaitu Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) dan lingkup gerak sendi ekstensi leher dengan goniometer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbaikan skor nyeri dan lingkup gerak sendi leher pada kelompok intervensi yang lebih signifikan dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (p<0,05). Implikasi penelitian ini diharapkan SNAGs dapat diterapkan dalam praktik klinis sebagai tambahan intervensi pada intervensi konvensional seperti kombinasi UST dan MET yang diberikan pada individu dengan nyeri leher non-spesifik.
